Lumen plays movies on Mac and Apple TV. The Mac app discovers movie folders on local and connected drives; you can add or remove folders in Settings. Movies are not uploaded to a Lumen cloud account. When library sharing is on, the Mac sends its catalog, artwork, and movie data to connected players over your local network.

Apple TV can also connect directly to shared folders, media servers, and file addresses you provide. Those sources receive the requests needed to browse and play your movies. Saved source passwords and tokens are stored in Keychain. Settings and resume points are stored on your device; playback from a paired Mac also saves resume points to that Mac.

If a sidecar poster is missing, online artwork lookup sends the movie title to IMDb suggestions and iTunes Search. Poster images are downloaded from the matching image host. Turn off Look up posters in Settings to use a frame from the film instead.

Purchase goes through Whop. This site does not load a tracking pixel or a web font. The native Mac and Apple TV apps do not load this website.
